Principal's Message
My name is Don Davis and I am honored to be named interim principal at Berney Elementary for the remainder of the school year. I look forward to meeting all of you over the coming months as I get to know our students, staff and families.
Until then, a little about me. I am a born and raised native of Walla Walla and a graduate of the Walla Walla Public Schools system. My wife Tera is a WWPS Graduate of Distinction and we have four children. Two of our children called Berney their home throughout their elementary years and we still have two in school. One is a junior at Walla Walla High School and the other a 7th grader at Garrison Middle School.
I earned my Bachelor in Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Washington State University and did my student teaching right here at Berney Elementary School. I taught elementary school in Milton-Freewater for several years before moving into administration. I served as the middle school assistant principal for three years before moving into the Ferndale Elementary principal position. Although my professional career took me across state lines, I continued to support the Walla Walla Public Schools system. I have volunteered for the last 13 years on the Big Blue Booster Board and currently serve as its President.
After leading Ferndale Elementary School for six years, I decided to take a step back and assist my wife with her professional career in the mortgage industry. It didn’t take me long to realize I missed the kids. The school setting is my calling and this opportunity couldn’t have come at a more opportune time. I look forward to working with our staff, students and families to continue the great work and history of excellence that Berney is known for throughout the community. Please stop by to introduce yourself and say hi.
